Rocca Calascio, perched 1,460 metres above sea level, is a medieval fortress of striking, austere beauty and rich history. At the base of the fortress, don’t miss the Chiesa di Santa Maria della Pietà, a charming 17th-century octagonal chapel seemingly carved from the rock.
