IMAGO Museum

Spanning over 1,200 square metres, IMAGO Museum is a must-visit destination for art enthusiasts, offering an immersive experience of Italian and international masterpieces from the 20th and 21st centuries, through both permanent collections and temporary exhibitions.

On Floor C, explore the major retrospective dedicated to Mario Schifano, Italy’s most celebrated Pop Art artist. The exhibition traces his remarkable career, showcasing works that merge classical influences with contemporary expression in a vibrant mix of colour, form, and innovation.

Floor A presents one of Italy’s most significant collections of Danish art, taking visitors on a journey from 1877 with Henrik Olrik to 1946, the year marking the end of the Nordic dream experienced in Italy. Meanwhile, Floor B features leading figures of 20th-century figurative painting, including Larry Rivers, a key figure in American Pop Art, and José Ortega, a prominent Spanish social realist.

The experience begins before you even step inside. The Museum building itself is a masterpiece of Italian rationalist architecture, constructed in 1933 as the headquarters of the Direzione Generale del Banco di Napoli. Its clean lines and understated elegance reflect an era that prized functionality and simplicity.
